Dave Bassett Biography

Former professional footballer and manager Dave Bassett has tremendous experience in the game of football and SRtRC were lucky enough to have him join us as an Honorary Patron in 1999, when he was manager of Barnsley FC. Dave has also managed Wimbledon, Watford, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Southampton. During his playing career he played for Wycombe Wanderers, Hayes and Wimbledon.

Dave has taken part in many SRtRC events and his contributions to panel discussions are always interesting for the audience. On one of the SRtRC films Dave said that just as in football, people’s language, colour of religion should not them working together. This is a key message that the campaign tries to get across to young people all over the UK. Dave was inducted in to the SRtRC Hall of Fame for his support of the campaign in 2004 and has continued to support the campaign by taking part in events.
